Please Consider Adopting a Senior

Golden Wannabes Wanna Be Adopted

Pete - We found him sitting at the shelter, where he'd been for 10 days. He was nervous and stressed out. Once we got him out of that place, he chilled out, was friendly, playful, and able to be himself. We found him to be a nice, loveable dog who likes other dogs, especially likes people but, not cats. He needs to put on some weight, but other than that, he's a healthy guy. We estimate him to be about 7 years young.

Kyra - At the age of 8, Kyra, like all seniors, offers the best of both worlds-- she has that robust zest for life that a young dog has, but without all the exhausting demands.

Specifically, Kyra is an amazing, happy, best buddy who can't give you a big enough greeting in the morning or when you walk through the door. She's an awesome walking partner and wags her entire body when she sees her leash. Her favorite snack is carrots, and her favorite "job" is teaching you how to play the games she enjoys (although being the savvy, funny character she is, she's not above changing the rules if it suits her purposes). One of her best-loved games is "keep away" which she plays by getting her squeaky tennis ball then running, ducking, and weaving so that you can't catch her until you announce that the game is over. She's also good at performing "squeaker-ectomies" on her plush toys, although she never chews on anything else. On the quieter side of life, she loves a good chest rub and just sitting with you to watch TV or take a nap.

Always a polite member of the family, Kyra obeys basic commands, doesn't get on furniture, enjoys the company of other dogs and cats in her foster home, has impeccable manners around food, and alerts if she senses anything unusual. In addition to all of that, she's an absolute cutie pie! What more could anyone ever ask for?

Zeke - His family is too busy with their toddler to spend any time with him anymore. He's 4 years old, good with dogs and cats. He'll do best in a home with no children.
Casey - There isn't much to say about this 6-month-old puppy that isn't typical of a golden pup. He likes people, other dogs and kids. He likes to play, run, eat, sleep, and is a very happy dog. He likes long walks on the beach--oh, wait, that's me. The only thing he doesn't like is the fact that he needs a new home. How about making this little guy a good offer. Casey is looking for a few people to be his godparents. Go to our "Golden God Parents" page to read more
Cody - We spotted him at the shelter, with those big eyes just begging for help. He's about 8 years old and heartworm positive. We see golden and lab in him, but his personality is totally golden. He's been a real gentleman in our custody and will make a wonderful addition to any family. He's good with kids, cats and other dogs.
Sam - At 4 years old, this fella was originally found as a stray. He was welcomed into the family and settled in. Now there's a young child around and he's been a little nervous. So, to give everybody peace of mind, we're looking for a family with older children. He's also good with cats and other dogs.
Penny - These two great dogs (Penny and her pal, Rocky) are househunting because their owner died and no one in the family could take them in. Both are excellent family members, eager to please and totally confused right now. They're good with kids and dogs, but we're not sure about cats yet. Penny is 7.
Rocky - He's best friends with Penny and has the same sad story. His owner died, leaving him without a place to call his own. At this point in his life (he's 9) he thought he had it made. Unfortunately, that's not the case and he's in need of a new family to call his own. He, also, is good with kids and dogs. Won't you open your heart and home to him?
Ginger and Maggie - Ginger, the golden, is 6 years old. Maggie, the beagle, is 5. They have been roomies all their lives and we'd like to keep it that way. They are losing their home because the 2-year-old in the household has respiratory problems and they can't stay any longer. Both dogs are, obviously, good with other dogs and good with kids. Cats are an unknown. Please consider them together.
Gabe - What a nice-looking dog! He was found waiting patiently at a shelter, watching each person pass him by. But, luckily, our volunteer didn't pass on him. About 4 years old, Gabe has the typical golden personality. Loves people, eager to please, likes other dogs. Full of energy, he's now patiently waiting for a new forever home.
Gage is good with other dogs, children and even cats. He is crate trained but does well home alone outside his crate. He has the typical happy go lucky personality Goldens are known for. Gage was born with hip dysplasia which requires surgery. His owners could not afford the surgery and gave him up to Rescue. He is young and healthy and we expect him to make a full recovery. We are accepting donations earmarked to help pay for Gage's surgery. His medical bill is expected to be between $4,000 and $4,500.  Please visit our Golden God Parents page for more information
Daisy and Morgan - Sisters. Sisters. Never were there such devoted sisters. And with such a sad story. One of their original owners passed away and the surviving spouse had to go into a nursing home. An elderly couple took these two dogs into their home and then, the husband died and the wife has been unable to care for them properly. Now, at age 10, we need to find a home for them together. They get along just fine with people, other dogs and even cats.
Linc - What a beautiful dog! Just look at that golden coat, that golden feathering, that golden tail--oh, wait--there is no tail. No matter. Everything that he does have is great. About 3 years old, he was a grooming nightmare when he came in. Under all the mats, several hot spots. But he cleaned up nicely. He's very friendly and gives kisses (even to strangers like me.) Now he needs a family who really cares about him. This is going to be a real Cinderella story. Once he gets his coat back, he'll be a very impressive-looking guy.
Bear - He was sitting quietly at a shelter, waiting out his last few days. THEN, along came GT! We pulled him faster than you can say euthanasia and what we found is a great dog. He's about 7 years old, very agreeable, willing to do whatever you ask. He likes other dogs, kids and even cats. Although he's heartworm+, he will be undergoing his treatment within a day or two and will be as good a new.
Princess - This little gal is both shy and friendly at the same time. It takes just a few minutes for her to warm up to you, but then she's your friend for life. Pulled from a high-kill shelter just in the nick of time, Princess is about 1 year old. She has the typical golden temperament. We feel she needs another dog to keep her active and make her feel more at home. And she definitely needs a fence.
Tonic - This young dog is about 2 years old. He's a great companion for his human friends, but would rather not share his life with other dogs. I'm sure you've met people you didn't especially like, too. He also isn't fond of cats. If you have a home without either dogs or cats, but want to be on the receiving end of his love and affection, Tonic is the dog for you.

Snickers - History in the making. We couldn't walk away from this little guy. We tried, but in fact, it was impossible because he kept following our volunteer EVERYWHERE while he was on a business trip--purring and meowing all the while. The vet estimates him to be about 16 weeks old. He's very healthy, very handsome and very available to the right home. He loves humans and doesn't seem to be bothered by dogs or other cats. We haven't been able to see him in action around another cat, but we'll be very surprised if a playtime doesn't break out immediately. You know how cats are! We often talk about some of our dogs being "velcro" dogs. Well, here's our first velcro kitty. Same adoption procedure, different adoption fee.
Lucky - This 3-year-old male is exactly what his name says. He was lucky enough to find his way into the Golden Treasures program before he got too sick. He's heartworm+, but because he's with us, he'll be fine. No telling what would have happened to him otherwise. Lucky is good with everyone, including other dogs, kids and even cats. He has a nasty ear infection, but that will clear up with proper care and medication. We want someone who will take a special interest in keeping him happy and healthy.
Ralph - We found him in a shelter with a badly injured leg, probably caused by being hit by a car. The skin was scraped off a good portion of his leg. He's been treated now and is well on his way to recovery. About 5 years old, Ralph likes people, dogs and cats. He will need a little TLC until his leg heals, but he does well when you change his bandages.
